Tama bang basehan ang EVALUATION para pasakayin ka? paano kung napag initan ka ni kamote o ni primero ( 1st engineer/2nd engineer) ?

in my own knowledge, ang evaluation ay basis ng promotion..
if tlgng very bad nmn ung performance at super bulilyaso..
dpt not for re-hire nlng final remark sau..
well, depende rin un sa kung ano ung sinabi ng evaluator mo..
better check it urself pra hnd k nghihintay sa wla..
bka nmn pwede k ng lumipat ng ibng company by then..

sa dati kung company malaki ang factor ng evaluation sa promotion at sa pagsakay. ang mga senior ang mata ng opisina kung anu ang performance mo sa barko, kung good or bad.

di ba pipirma ka naman at may space para sa explanation mo kung sakaling agree ka or disagree ka sa evaluation sa'yo?

yun lang po mga sir/ma'am po.

edel is correct!

all you have to do is to be consistent and most of all every time you go on board, you have to be improving.. if you can tell yourself you have that, i should appear in the paper..

all companies have different styles of evaluating their personnel.. for instance, if your previous evaluation is good, the office will see that, then if your latest one is bad, there is something wrong.. either with you of the one that gave you such.

evaluation itself is an agreement. for example, in maersk, we usually do it in the office.. usually you will rate yourself and then your superior will rate you.. if you didnt agree with that, you have to ask and challenge him in a nice way regarding your performance the way he or she sees it.. if it goes well, you will know your good and bad point with regards to work.. signing it simply says that you have agreed to the evaluation.. if you didnt agree, you have to put on the remarks saying you dont agree or on protest or maybe dont sign it.. im not saying you should always do this but, the office should know also whats happening. the office could also investigate if the one giving the evaluation is a bullshit..Evil or Very Mad

the third thing you must have is trust.. just get their trust so that you wont fall in deep waters! if ayaw ka na nilang pasakayin.. lipat ka, if they are mistaken, its their loss not yours!

kelangan din ng pakikisama sa barko and remember, magaling sa bolahazing ang every graduate of maap.. Use it! tongue

excuse to our senior who says MAAP is gud for bolalazing..wel, i hate this word and hate to do this on board...tamang makisama and respect ur superiors, bt if ur superior doesnt do anyting gud to you show who u are man..MAAP shud never be underestimated...d ko naman cnbing magyabang k..pakita mo n kya mo ang pinasok mo n profession....kung mali k magpakumbaba pero kung alam mong ur ryt fight for ur ryt...evaluations are sometimes bullshit...straight to the point, kung pwede nga lng mag evaluate ng superior d patas san db...saka why so concern with evaluation..just do ur job man...do ur best and khit n paginitan k d nila magagawang siraan k kc sa knila lng ang balik...try to get the heart of ur subordinates mas importante yan kc cla ang makakatulong sau in the end..mas majority ang lower ranks sa bakro keysa sa mga officers ryt...so take my advice...khit messboy yan dapat cla ang una mong pakisamahan lalo n pag ang superior u ay siraulo or out of mind or ayaw sau...kc kung nakikita nya n boto ang lahat sau mag iilag yan n paginitan k..im giving my own experience man..so takew it or live it......Anyway bgo k sa barko and i hope magpapakumbaba k prin kc kulang p ang iyong nalalaman sa barko d purke galing k MAAP eh alam u n lahat..hinde ur wrong...lahat ng bagay sa bsrtko matututunan...mahalaga pakita o ang respeto sa superior khit minsan eh sinasagot mo cla n nsa tama...khit ano mangyari wag u kalimutan mag sir or mag gud morning khit n masama angtama mo sa superior u..kc in the end marealized nya n khit n ganun ginagawa nya sau d k nagbabago ang in the bitter end ng inyong pagsasama kung susumahin naging magalang k db...lam mo dami 08 d2 ang npaka curious about everyting...gentlemen me a man...stand for ur own self..d n kc kailangan itanong ito nasasau n lahat ng kasagutan and2 lng mga advice to give advice...kung itatanong mo lng 2 sa akin ng personal bka ma buljac p kta...no joke ang kukulit ng mga tanong nyo...grtaduate k ng MAAP u shud know wer to stand...finally, kung masama ang evaluation mo nxt tym bawi k nlng uli kalimutan ang past and change for a cost..a cost for own self.....a change that wil direct u in better evaluation or career...kalimutan mo evalution basta trabaho lng sabi nga sa barko db...we or u have a lot of tings to work at...just be respectable and respectful k....08 ayaw ko ng makakita ng ganitong tanong lalo n sa performance sa barko...do ur very best and carry the MAAP name not in butt..but in your own profession...

dami na reply dito .....cge magsulat din aku....

sabi nga nila...every company has its own unique style para sa evaluation...some made it easy na rate 1 to 10 lang tulad dito sa bsm....others naglalagay ng explanation and any training needed for crew's improvement and yung iba rin sa ibaba for promotion or not....for rehire or not....bago yan makarating sa office,pipirmahan mo yan sa barko...so alam mo kung anu ang nilalaman ng evaluation na yan..Sabi nga when you affix your signature to any document you are well aware and whole heartedly agreed sa nilalaman nun....kaya ingat sa pagpirma,ipaexplain mu muna kung bakit ganun.....

Points to Remember:
1. Luma na ang kasabihan na 1st impression last, pero it always works....and being applied to all, no exemption...

2. Pride is the root of all evil...Kaya kung meron ka nyan iwan mu sa bahay, bago ka magboard ng plane.. This way kahit yung messman nyu tatawagin mung sir...At anytime na masabon ka, pasok sa kaliwang tenga ilabas mu sa kabila(alam mu na yan Dux,di ka na iba dyan). LAgi mung dalhin si Thank you at si Sorry lagi mu silang gagamitin..Respect is earned and given voluntarily and cannot be taken by force (quote from Sir Simbulan)

3. Time is gold, time is money time is many things...isipin mung mabuti na kung ikaw ang duty tapos laging late bumaba ang karilyebo mu, diba sobrang kainis yun kasi nababawasan ang resting hours mu. Aba. kahit 1 minute lang yan very important yan, lalo na kung maalon.

4. Be alert, be iniative and be smart....sinu ba masisiyahan kung makita kang naglalakad pa eh emergency na...Kaya sakin i always consider every work as emergency, that way when situation comes..nakaprogram na yung isip mo na emergency yun at di ka natataranta kung anu ang mga gagawin at dadalhin mu....

5. Put this in mind for engine.(Grease is money,i want money so i want more grease) hehe...di ko alam sa deck weh...baka ganito...rust is money, i want money so i will chip more rust...hehehe....

yan lang muna sa ngayun.....pero helpful naman siguro yan.....hehe

gus2 ko share ko naranasan ko sa barko
huling baba ko..1 week ago..
8 months na ako..4 months lng contrata namin tapos i2 company eh maraming rason para di ako pababain..
unang rason:walang makuhang officer kasi magpapasko so pumayag na ako hanggang jan
2nd reason nila: di convenient port(algeria) okay ligtas na namn
3rd reason: nagback out yung papalit kaya naghahanap ulet
4th reason: mi emergency bigla yung officer na nakuha kaya di mkakasampa..
5th reason: mi convenient port na, handa na yung kapalit ko.kaso gus2 namn nila i group crew change na lang kaya sa sunod na puerto na lng daw..
sa inis ko eh..sinabihan ko si tano na magttawag n lng ako ng itf para pababain ako sa dami ng rason ng company..sa takot nila eh..nagpadala ng kapalit ko sa sunod na pwerto..
tapos nagsalita pa yung chief engineer malakas lng daw loob ko na magsumbong kasi kakampihan ako ni capt oca so di daw ako mabablack list..so far napakaganda ng aking evaluation..
pagreport ko sa office eh sinabon ako ng pmma na senior crewing baket daw ako nagbitaw ng magsusumbong sa itf
pero gagawin ko namn tlga yun kasi wala nga sila maiproduce na kapalit ko..

ngayon nghahanap na ako ng new company..

REGARDING sa mga UNWANTED people Onboard:

Frankly...DAMI TALGA SIRA ULO sa barko at it isn't based on what rank a person holds, Ive been with Crazy Cadets, OS, AB, BOSUN, etc. etc. till MASTER & various ENgineers...You might say im so darn unlucky to be onboard with those type of people, yet kung tutuusin iv'e been sira ulo myself once or twice in my experiences onboard...why? kase abnormal talaga environment natin and sad to say that every man has his own limits or threshold to maintain his Personality which would be pleasing for everybody at its easily affected by PROBLEMS back home, STRESS on the Job and most specially BOREDOM... where im goin with this? HABAAN NYO LANG PASENSYA at PAGINTINDE nyo PRE its something na di maiiwasan sa BArko...advise ko nalang siguro e ITS EASIER to UNDERSTAND OTHERS "THAN" HOPING OTHERS TO UNDERSTAND YOU...

4 KADETENG VERY BRAVE :

Here's what i could share not only to you but to the rest of the alumni's on this topic:
Guy's let's face it...our Profession is "PURELY BUSINESS" when it comes to timely repatration its really a topic which is an unending at never would be on the benefit of the seafarer....KUNG SAN SILA ( COMPANY & PRINCIPALS ) LAMANG DUN SILA lague, we all agree that its unfair yet that's life, its part of our profession, so if ayaw mo sa ganung paulit ulit na sistema ng company nyo..then its a good time for you to SHop for new ones right? wag stick sa company na your not satisfied with its services...LOYALTY is Given to those who DESERVES your Loyalty....

IF YOU REALLY REALLY WANA GO HOME you got lot of OPTIONS:
here's some suggestion that's almost full proof effective :
1.) PAY FOR YOU AND YOUR RELIEVER's TICKET
2.) HAVE A REAL MEDICAL PROBLEM ( kain ka marami SILI para magkaALMURANAS ka )
3.) HAVE A FAKE MEDICAL PROBLEM ( kaw na isip...illegal yan e hahaha!! )
4.) CALL the ITF ( if talagang dehado kana )
5.) DONT WORK and STAY AT UR CABIN D WHOLE WEEK
6.) DESTROY ONE OF THE SHIP's EXPENSIVE EQUIPMENTS
7.) BORROW CHIEF COOKS LARGEST KITCHEN KNIFE and VISIT CAPTAINS CABIN in the middle of the NIGHT hahahah!!!!

hope ive helped =).... oi guys im not suggesting that you really do this its just that if you really really really wana GO HOME e ive shown you the options...bahala kna buhay mo yan. Laughing Laughing

Hmmmmmm....Opinion ba ang hanap mu.........
Kung yung 8 months ikababaliw na natin.....much more po kaya ako......i'm going now for 13 months sa february 05....and still going.....baka end of february pa ku makauwi kesyo daw tong hinayupak na burmese na kapalit ku e kelangan daw ng 8 weeks familiarization according to his contract (my reliever boarded the ship january 05) ...e wala naman akung pinirmahan na payag ako sa ganung set up....but anyways its good to know naman na nandito na yung reliever ku at may kinukupal kupal aku na ibang lahi dito....hehe....biruin mu ba naman just yesterday when i'm finish charging the lifeboat battery...itanung ba naman ang ganito..."ammm 4th where is the lifeboat battery, is it inside?".......I just smiled, and responded, well yes just try to find out when you tested it next week."......Actually nung una akala ku mababaliw aku sa haba ng tinagal ku dito sa barko, mas nakakasira pala ng ulo ang ganito, biruin mu ginawa akong instructor dito..Its very hard to teach most specially inside the engine room with all the noise....1 week palang di na nga kinaya ng boses ko, day by day pawala ng pawal at nung mag second week na, as sign language nalang talaga gamit ku...bahala syang umuntindi....yun ang kaasar diba.. then i made an email to my company office in manila...sabi ko di ku na kaya, unfair to para sakin..I never heard of 4th engineer having an overlap for 2 months just because the company is not sure of the capability of their crew.....its a big BULL$#@*!!!!!!SABI KU SA OFFICE NAGPIPIGIL LANG AKO DITO SA KAPALIT KO PERO PAG DI KU NA KAYA PUKPUKIN KO TALAGA NG MASO ULO NITO.....

Hi Chris, dito ata manggagaling ci capt. andres and yung 3E. Possibly, sabay sabay na siguro kayo. for sure mag aupdate naman ang SIngapore office natin. Konting tiis na lang chris, kinaya mo nga ang 13 months eh hahahah. But seriously, dont do anything na makakasira ng record mo oki. Else masasayang ang 14 months na pinaghirapan mo. About dun sa reliever mo, hehehe be thankful di ka nya kagaya. Isipin mo na lang you will be home soon, then upgrade mo na yung license mo. Sandali lang yan. Ingat lagi. Hello Corsair its been a long time since the last time we had a small chat...
well, ok din yung ginawa mo kasi sobra ka na sa contract mo, pero sana nag-isip ka pa ng ibang pwedeng magawa, hehehe sana you can travel thru time and space so pwede mo mabasa in advance yung list ng advice ng smart upperclaamen natin nu...then zoom back to your present time...wow!!! pero ok lang Bro!!! Eto na papagalitan nakita... Hindi mo ba alam na may mga contract na 9months at umaabot ng 14months because of the same reasons you have just shared and still it is considered lawfull and just sa mga seaman na nakakaexperience, honestly you needed to have a best buddy on board para naman may makuhanan ka ng advice, maybe some smartbug had whispered this same lame bravery like qoute, "oo nga tol gawin mo yan masyado na yang mga yan..." well come to think of it hindi ka naman siguro nadala sa mga yun kasi i know you are a hard headed butt kicking corsair or its just an attitude that Hics'05 installed in you "di bale ng kamatisin basta may angas pa rin"... hehehe na miss lang kita Boss Chief wag mo masyado siryosohin mga pinagsasabi ko kasi una hindi pa ko naforcely extended ng 9months or more hangang 8 pa lang, pero kung ssakaling dumating sakin yun relax lang muna ulitin lahat ng pelikula na ilang ulit ng napanood, pati Heroes season 1 to 4 or alias, Grace Anatomy (there goes the List)... Hoping that the tides will serve well my expectations, pero in short ipaddadasal ko na lang mas sigurado pa...nga pala no...may lakad ka ba sa mga time na pag-uwi ko o watch ka lang Pacquiao Clottey fight? ay masyado maaaga yata yun lam ko, baka watch ka pa spider wrestling...mas exciting ata yun nu... oh i miss the days, hirap pala mag seaman nu...dami adjustments...yun lang tol learn to adjust to every situations coz somewhere in our carreer we might find ourseleves to a more difficult situations than this, may God Grant you the Knowledge you needed in that very situation and Hope it suits you well...all the Best dux and congratz pala sa evaluation mo na Perfect (",) kita kits kung maabutan mo pa ko, naiinggit kasi ako sa last na get together nung January...nabalitaan mo ba yun? Evaluation

It's a sad thing na hindi ito masyadong nabibigyan ng focus sa MAAP kaya some or most of the graduates learn this through trial and error.

IMO (In My Opinion)
The evaluation is both a summary of how you performed and the level of your potential.
Sa isang parte, pinapakita nito ang ginawa mo, at sa isang banda, sinasabi nito kung saan ka medyo may pagkukulang na kailangan mo ng atensyon.

Halimbawa, you got a 2 out of 5 (or below average) in Initiative. Kung titignan natin in face value, sinasabi nito na "wala kang pagkukusa". You might disagree. There maybe a lot of times na nagkusa ka.

In actual however, it simply says hindi ka nakitaan ng pagkukusa. And you can't argue with your officer on that. Kahit ilang beses kang nagkusa sa barko, you cannot dispute that evaluation kung hindi naman talaga nakita ng nagbigay ng "rate" ang pagkukusa mo.

another, in face value, you think "wala kang pagkukusa". but in actual, hindi ka nakitaan ng pagkukusa "on that particular voyage". wise companies will not conclude "you permanently devoid of initiative." So they will remind you to show more initiative on your next voyage.

the keyword there is show. it is ideal na magtrabaho ng matino kahit walang nakatingin. but mas realistic at helpful sa career mo kung you work great without AND under supervision.
